Luis Fernando Camaja learned the trade the way most good tradesmen do: on the job, carrying material, watching the people who did it right, and asking questions. Before long he was the one running the crew.

Over more than ten years he has worked on roofs, framed walls, set trim and built decks across Richmond and the surrounding area. He has seen what happens when a sub shows up late, leaves a mess, or goes quiet halfway through a job. He has also seen how much smoother a project runs when the trades below the GC simply do what they said they would.

That is why he started Camaja Construction. The idea was simple: be the subcontractor he would want to hire. Show up on the date given. Keep the site clean at the end of every day. Pick up the phone. Fix it if it isn't right, before anyone has to ask.

Luis is still on site. He walks the jobs, checks the work and talks directly with superintendents and project managers, in English or Spanish. When you call Camaja Construction, you reach the person responsible for the work.

Today the company works as a roofing and carpentry subcontractor for general contractors and builders. Your schedule comes first, your site stays clean, and you always know where the job stands.
